| Available Sizes We sell most of our bamboos in planter bags instead of pots. The sizes listed here (in litres) refer to the volume of the planter bag, and thus the volume of soil and size of rootball. 3 litre bags - 120mm x 280mm (roughly equivalent to a 200mm pot in volume) The 'Typical height' listed next to each size is the approximate height of the plant at time of purchase. Planter bags uses less plastic than pots - the less plastic thrown into the environment the better. |

This species is commonly called 'Malay Dwarf Variegated'. A beautiful dense bushy ornamental with cream striped leaves. Makes a great screen or hedge in a short time. Can easily be pruned to desired size and bottom branches can be trimmed to expose the culms for a great effect in smaller gardens.
Each clump will typically get to about 0.5m in diameter at the base (ie. footprint), but with the actuall foliage reaching nearly 2m in diameter. This means that if planting them as a screen, then with 1.5m spacing, they will create a nice total block with a little bit of overlap. However, if the intent is to trim them either in width or height to anything less than their mature size (ie. anything less than 3 meters in height or 2m in diameter), then it is best to plant them at 1m spacing, so that no undesirable gaps become present.
NOTE about photos: All the photos on this website are taken at Bamboo Land. Therefore, the plant photos displayed here show ACTUAL plant performance in OUR climate, and not what they MAY grow into based on overseas conditions. A lot of work has gone into taking these photos, so please dont copy or use them without prior permission from Bamboo Land. Enjoy.
