Bambusa lako (Timor Black)
Timor Black
Typical height: 10m
Typical culm diameter: 8cm
Growth habit: Upright, tidy
Temperature tolerance (minimum): -3°C    Can be grown in southern parts of Australia, but may get some browning of leaves during winter.
Origin: Indonesia

This is the most common black bamboo, and with good reason - the glossy black culms with green striations make this bamboo a fantastic feature plant.

The bottom couple of meters are usually free from foliage, giving this bamboo a very tidy and clean appearance. On the flipside, it also means that the Timor Black is not all that great as a screening plant, especially if screening is required at lower levels.
