Chlorophytum 'Fire Flash'
A rare and particularly stunning foliage plant with broad green foliage and vibrant orange-hued petioles and leaf midribs. The bright orange colour remains year-round and really illuminates the center of each plant, and hence its name 'Fire Flash'.
This plant makes fantastic indoor pot plants or ground covers in shady areas of the garden. Plant in areas where there will be no direct sunlight.
The Fireflash in not particularly difficult to grow, as long as the soil is kept moist, but not wet. ‘Fire Flash’ seems to resist most insects and diseases, but can be susceptible to browning foliage or spots which may be caused by fluoridated water. To avoid this, use rain water rather than tap water. It can also be quite sensitive to chemicals and insecticides, so avoid getting any of these on the leaves.
The Fireflash prefers humid conditions. Therefore, mist regularly if grown indoors, or keep in a room with high humidity such as bathrooms.
Some websites list this plant as Chlorophytum amaniense, but it seems that it is actually a hybridised plant and would more accurately be discribed as Chlorophytum X 'Fire Flash'. The actual species that were crossed is unknown.
