Taxonomy
As you have probably noticed from our catalogue listings, we sell all our plants under their botanical names. Even though these names are quite a mouth-full, we feel that it's the best way to reduce confusion.
As we all know, most plants have common names which we all know them by, this also holds true for many of the bamboos. Problems arise however, when plants are given multiple common names depending on where they are from or even what nursery is propogating them. Some nurseries like to create their own names to make their plants more maketable - something we feel creates unnecessary confusion.
We do however still list some of the more established common names, but only as a secondary name to the botanical names.
We take the greatest care in correctly classifying the species we sell but cannot give a 100% guarantee due to occasional reclassifications and confusion among taxonomists.
