Philodendron 'Anderson's Red'
An easy to grow and cold tolerant philodendron with a slow climbing tendency. Stems and new emerging leaves are bright red which darken as they get older. If allowed to grow up a tree trunk or palm, it will add a fantastic rainforest feel to your garden.
Typical height: 1 to 4m
Climate: Quite cold tolerant. Will grow in most parts of Australia.
Light conditions: Part shade / Shade
Growth habit: Slow climber
Growing conditions: Will grow in most soil types
Tolerates bright conditions with some direct sun (but not full sun all day long).
It's not a fast grower, which is usually a good thing so that it wont take over your garden or choke your trees). It will usually grow about 50cm per year.
Also makes a good indoor plant. An old fence post or bit of hardwood makes for a great looking totem for it to climb on.
