This black culmed giant produces great timber and boasts the fastest growth rate of all the big bamboos. It also produces beautiful sweet edible shoots. A must have if you've got the space.

In Australian conditions, it is unusual to see it taller than 25m. It needs good moisture and high humidity to reach its full potential.

At Bamboo Land, this bamboo has the biggest culm diameter (at the base) out of all the bamboos - easily gets to a whopping 20cm.
