Sacred Bamboo
Typical height: 12m
Typical culm diameter: 7cm
Growth habit: Upright
Temperature tolerance (minimum): -2°C Prefers tropical / subtropical climate
Origin: SE Asia
Thin walled, erect yellow culms with green stripes and large yellow striped leaves. Very beautiful.
Requires good growing conditions - protected area free from frost, well drained soil, well fertilised and regular watering.
This bamboo tends to flower annually/sporadicly (without any viable seed produced) therefore, if conditions are not ideal the stress of it all can become too much for the plant and cause it to look pretty scruffy.
If however conditions are good, you will be highly rewarded with an absolutely stunning feature bamboo, with the smooth yellow culms glowing in the sun and the large tropical leaves swaying in the wind.
NOTE about photos: All the photos on this website are taken at Bamboo Land. Therefore, the plant photos displayed here show ACTUAL plant performance in OUR climate, and not what they MAY grow into based on overseas conditions. A lot of work has gone into taking these photos, so please dont copy or use them without prior permission from Bamboo Land. Enjoy.
