Origin: Australia
This is a native Australian bamboo with straight upright culms and branchless lower section. Being tight clumping this bamboo creates a good screen for areas with limited space.
The Murray Island bamboo is best planted at 1 to 2m apart, depending on desired 'look'. If you want a continuous 'wall' of bamboo, then plant at 1m apart. If on the other hand you are ok with some gaps at the base, but foliage touching together higher up, then plant at 2m.
The hedging in the photos below, show the Murray Island planted at 2m centres.
NOTE about photos: All the photos on this website are taken at Bamboo Land. Therefore, the plant photos displayed here show ACTUAL plant performance in OUR climate, and not what they MAY grow into based on overseas conditions. A lot of work has gone into taking these photos, so please dont copy or use them without prior permission from Bamboo Land. Enjoy.
