This plant will easily become the centre of attention in any garden with its dramatic gigantic leaves and thick rigid stalk. Commonly known as (Giant Elephant Ear) or (Giant Taro) alocasia macrorrhizo are fast growing tropical plants that perform best in partial shade with some protection from wind and full sun. A good rich and free draining soil, regular watering during the warmer months and an organic fertiliser is best for optimum plant health. 

In cooler climates they can die back periodically - cut them off at the base with sharp secateurs and watch them flourish again when Spring arrives.
