Neomarica gracilis (Walking Iris)
An attractive ground cover or pot plant. A clumping growth habit with long strappy arching leaves. Flowers during winter. Even if its not in flower, the dark green foliage makes for very elegant displays.
The Walking Iris is a great addition to rockeries, surrounding ponds, bordering pathways or just as an understory filler.
New plantlets grow in the tips of the flowers stems, which if they droop and touch the ground, will grow into a new clump. This propogative habit is what gives this plant its name 'Walking Iris'.
Growing the Walking Iris indoors is quite easy - keep in bright light near a big window (without full midday or afternoon sun).
