Job description
Bamboo Land Nursery & Parklands is a bamboo, ginger and heliconia specialised nursery situated near Hervey Bay, QLD. Bamboo Land is a small but rapidly growing family business, which requires a highly motivated and enthusiastic staff member to help the business grow and to keep up with increasing plant order volumes, and plant production demand.
This position has a strong emphasis on construction and maintenance of all horticultural structures and sheds. The candidates will need to have a solid background in construction of steel structures and a good understanding of plant production / propagation and plant care. Good technical ability and ability to read plans and drawings is essential As is the case with most production nurseries, the work is quite seasonal. During spring and summer, it is expected that the candidate will help with plant production, where as in Autumn and Winter the work will be mostly focused on construction and maintenance. It is also advantageous if the candidate has some experience in landscape design and construction, and sound knowledge of farm machinery and equipment.
Due to the varied nature of the position, the successful candidate must be versatile with a wide range of abilities.
The following qualifications are essential:
- Open drivers licence
- Licence to Perform High Risk Work - LF (Forklift Truck)
- Elevated work platform certificate
The following qualifications will be highly regarded:
- Heavy Rigid (HR) licence
- Horticulture III Certificate
- Trade certificate in chainsaw handling
Nursery trade qualifications are advantageous; however candidates with demonstrated experience in a Nursery environment or general plant knowledge are welcome to apply.
Good physical fitness is essential. Ability to safely work with power tools and at heights is crucial.

Hours of employment are usually 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The position is full time. Salary will be between $50k and $60k per annum depending on experience. Work hours are generally between 6am and 3pm, with some options for flex-time. Position available for immediate start.
