The Cape York Lily is dormant in winter, with all foliage dying off. This protects the plant from frost and enables the rhizomes to re-sprout in Spring. So even though this plant originates in the tropics, it will also grow well in cooler climates.  Mulch well to keep rhizomes warm during winter. Dont everwater during the dormant period, to prevent rhizomes from rotting.

Traditionally roasted and eaten by Australian indigenous people.
